It’s Pride Month and there is lots going on right here in Seminole County. Here’s a snapshot of the events currently scheduled, with more to come. Find something you can join, and if there was ever a month to spur on your LGBTQ+ activist bug, this is the month!

Also, IMPORTANT this month – we need your presence at the Seminole County School Board Meeting on June 21 at 5:30 p.m. The Rainbow SemDems and other LGBTQ+ individuals and groups will attend to voice concerns about the board’s refusal to approve a Proclamation recognizing the LGBTQ community. “The proclamation would have rhetorically affirmed the board’s commitment to a supportive school environment for students, families and staff in the LGBTQ community.”
The Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) Superintendent removed the item from the School Board Meeting Agenda on 5/31/22 following the SCPS Workshop that day, at which time, the majority of members decided that there needed to be a “policy” in place regarding how to review/approve proclamations prior to addressing the LGBTQ Proclamation. Unacceptable!
Location: Seminole County School Board, Room 106
400 E Lake Mary Blvd, Sanford, FL 32773
Date/Time: 6/21 at 5:30 pm
And of course, our Monthly Meeting – this month is virtual (Zoom) and IN PERSON! We will meet at Perkins in Winter Springs, and we are very excited to have as our guest speaker, Representative Carlos Guillermo Smith!
